B2 Kitchen Workshop by bulthaup | Kitchen design

With the b2 kitchen workshop, German kitchen manufacturer bulthaup has radically rethought the traditional concept of a kitchen. Starting from the philosophical origins of every living space – fire and water points – bulthaup has created an open and mobile kitchen that can be added to and composed to suit each individual’s personal requirements.

The b2 kitchen is comprised of a workbench, which houses the fire and water point, a kitchen tool cabinet for crockery, cooking utensils, spices and food, and an appliance cabinet, which houses the oven, dishwasher and refrigerator. The storage space has been so cleverly compacted that pull-outs and drawers have been rendered completely unnecessary.

bulthaup b2 is a kitchen that either conceals everything or shows it off. By opening the in-door storage doors it is possible to get an overview of the entire kitchen domain. Everything needed for a two person household is visible at a glance and within reach. Once the doors are closed again, the beauty of the simple purpose-oriented form becomes clearly apparent.

The minimalist style of the b2 kitchen workshop is continued through the limited choice of basic material, such as oak and walnut veneer combined with worktops made from stainless steel, oak, walnut and gray sandstone.

Gerd Bulthaup says: “By constantly observing the living and eating habits of people from all over the world, bulthaup develops new  kitchen concepts to address the needs of modern lifestyles globally. bulthaup b2 is responsive to modern lifestyles, such as single-person or two-person households, or even “extended families”, and is the perfect kitchen for the nomad lifestyle, or those who are pioneers in creating new alternative living spaces.”

The bulthaup b2 was developed in collaboration with the renowned design firm EOOS in Vienna. “The result of this cooperation is unconventional, convincing and independent: bulthaup b2 defines the entire kitchen as a changeable system, and is thereby  synonymous with the versatile kitchen of today and tomorrow,” says Gerd Bulthaup.
