Burundi's President, Pierre Nkurunziza has been sworn in for a third term in office in a surprise ceremony on Thursday, 20th August as many thought he was going to be sworn in this week.
Over 100 people died in protests since April Nkurunziza announced he would run a third term.
No foreign head of state attended the inauguration. The government of Burundi however said some countries apologised for not sending their delegates because of the change in date.
Nkurunziza has in his inaugural speech promised to end the violence in Burundi in 2 months.
